Our Basic Beliefs

God and His Good News: There is One God, creator and sovereign ruler of the universe, eternally existing as three persons (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit), who has forgiven our sins and given us redemption by faith in Jesus Christ. (Genesis 1.1; John. 1.1-4; Matthew 28.19)

Christmas Worship

We proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ, fully human and fully divine, who became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, lived a life of perfect obedience to His heavenly Father, died on the cross to atone for the sins of the world and rose bodily in accordance with the Scriptures. We believe God the Holy Spirit draws us to faith in Jesus Christ, through whom alone we are made righteous (justified) and found acceptable by God the Father. (John 14.6; Acts 4.12).  Further our salvation is secured by God through His grace and power and cannot be earned by Human effort (Ro. 3.23)

About Mankind: God made humanity alone in His image to be like Him in character, but faced with the choice of obedience to God’s will and purpose for our lives or the elevation of our own desires, we chose the latter and rebelled against God, which is sin. The result of our sin was the disruption of our relationship between God and each other (Genesis 1.26-27; 3.8-12; Romans 3.10, 23)

About Eternity: Man was created to exist forever. He will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God by His grace through the forgiveness of sin that He offers by faith in His Son Jesus who is the Christ. To be eternally separated from God is a place of Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.

Christian Commitment: We confess Jesus as the Lord to whom all authority in heaven and earth has been given by the Father. We commit ourselves to follow Jesus and love Him above all else and to conform and live our lives according to His example and commands by the grace and help of the Holy Spirit. (Luke 14.25-27)

Holy Scripture: We believe all Scriptures were “written for our learning” (Romans 15:4), that they (both the Old and New Testaments are “God’s Word written,” and therefore the supreme source God’s truth and that we are to read, preach, teach, and live by their standard. We commit ourselves to regular Bible study and to preach and teach only that which is in accordance with Holy Scripture. (2 Timothy 3.16-17; 2 Peter 1.20-21)

Christian Community: We hold corporate worship in the Word and Sacrament, discipleship, and mission to be interconnected and indispensable aspects of our response to God as individuals, and the community and family of God. We are committed to being sacrificially involved in all three aspects of congregational life.

Mission and Missions: The Risen Lord commissioned His disciples to offer the Good News to all persons without discrimination, and to teach them to obey His commandments. Therefore we, as his body (the church) are committed to Jesus’ mission, which includes both evangelistic proclamation and care of those in need.

About the Sacraments (The Lord’s Supper and Baptism): We celebrate the sacraments of the Lord’s Supper (also known as Communion and the Eucharist) and Baptism  as commanded by Jesus. They are not only a distinguishing mark and tangible representation and profession of our faith, but sure witnesses and effectual signs of God’s grace and good will towards us, which work within us to excite, strengthen, and confirm our faith. All Baptized Christians are welcome to receive communion.
